The Process!

Adventures in Soapmaking

Simple Tools to Make Soap

Simple Tools to Make Soap

I got hooked on making soap when my husband bought me Alicia Grosso's book, The Everything Soapmaking Book, 3rd Edition. When I came to the section on cold-process soap-making, I was reminded of a class I had taken with Master Herbalist, Julie James in California  where we made soap using the cold-process method. That was where I'd start!

I didn't have to look far for tools that were right in my own kitchen...stainless steel bowls and measuring tools that I could dedicate to the process. I didn't have to look far for tools that were right in my own kitchen...stainless steel bowls and measuring tools that I could dedicate to the process. My Vitamix scale works perfectly to measure oils. All I bought was a heat resistant measuring device for the sodium hydroxide (lye), the lye and a mold. The actual ingredients I scrounged from my cupboards: olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil (works great on skin and repels moles from your yard!),

Protect Yourself!

Measuring the oils will make your hands feel lovely...However, I took it to heart to make sure I protected myself when I started working with the sodium hydroxide - gloves, long sleeves, goggles. One thing no one tells you - pour the lye into the water with your face as far away as possible - the fumes are absolutely noxious!

My Blog

Time flies and much has happened since we started making soap! From tentative beginnings in Washington State  to moving to Michigan, it seems we're beginning again! Staying committed to making small batches with a few simple ingredients, we continue to work towards taking our customers on a

"scent-uous" journey to spirit. Step into the shower and inhale deeply. See where the scent takes you! Fragrance-free bars for "scent-sitive" folks available, too!

Make your day "scent-sational"!

Freshly handcut soap going to cure. All small batches cure at least 3 weeks before being allowed to grace your bathing experience!
